Spalding County is updating its Comprehensive Plan for long-term growth, and we need your help!
The Spalding County Comprehensive Plan Update will result in an updated, community-driven roadmap for the county’s future growth and development. The planning process includes the Cities of Sunny Side and Orchard Hill and close coordination with the City of Griffin, who has its own Comprehensive Plan. Throughout 2022, we'll be working with a diverse, hand-selected team from across our community to revise the Spalding County Comprehensive Plan.
What is the Comprehensive Plan? It's a plan that plays a critical role in the day-to-day decisions and long-term quality of life in Spalding. It guides the county’s rezoning, informs decisions related to infrastructure, private development, and other county investments. The Comprehensive Plan is updated every five years.
We invite you to join us in the process as we look to Spalding 2042!
What's Involved in Spalding 2042?
The comprehensive planning process involves four key planning phases: project initiation, visioning, vision and actions alignment, and documentation and finalization. We are also updating our Capital Improvements Element as a part of the effort. The Capital Improvements Element helps ensure that new development helps pay its proportionate share of increased service and infrastructure needs resulting from development.
